Camp Jabez Q and A

What is Traditional Camp vs Jr Camp?

Traditional camp is for ages 8-16 and runs Monday – Friday

Jr. Camps are for ages 5-7 and runs for 3 days only

The general considerations in the different camps are:

  • The stamina of children age 7 and under vs children ages 8 to 14’s ability to hang in there
  • Jr. Camp lasts 3 days and is an hour less per day than Traditional Camp which lasts 5 days
  • Size of the youth when involved in team activities (more extensive on rope course)
  • Maturity level in respect to interaction with older youth
  • And most importantly, the horse camp for Jr Camp is adjusted for their size and maturity

The reason for the above items is so the daily programs are not bogged down by the little ones who are unable to keep up.  Their fun is quickly exhausted if they are struggling throughout the 5 days.

Please note – Jr Campers are allowed to attend only one camp due to limited capacity and stamina of the campers

What time does my child’s camp start and end?

Traditional Camps begin at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm

Jr. Camps begin at 8:30 am and ends at 2:30 pm

Is lunch provided?

No, your child will need to bring a bagged lunch with their name clearly indicated. All lunches will be refrigerated. Water and popsicles are provided throughout the day.

What should my child wear?

We will have a variety of outdoor high-intensity activities, horse riding/training, and some water games.

Traditional camps are involved with horses Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Jr. Camps have horse activities the first and last day of their camp session.

For horse activities your child will need to wear jeans and tennis shoes. Rubber boots, hiking boots, sandals, and flip-flops are not permitted. It will also be necessary for your child’s shirt to fit properly so they will not get entangled in any gear that will be necessary for activities.

Will my child be swimming?

No, we do not have a swimming pool at Camp Jabez. However, as long as waivers are signed we do have paddle boats for them to ride on. While on the paddle boats life vests are worn at all times regardless of swimming abilities. They will also do some fishing and water related games.

Do you have horse camps?

No, not at this time. However, we do offer individualized lessons that begin in September and run through April. Please contact our main office to discuss details, at 937-223-4513.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

We rarely cancel due to weather because we have a gymnasium and classrooms equipped for a variety of all-day activities. In the event there is tornado warnings, parents will be contacted.

Can I pay by check or over the phone?

No, all financial transactions as well as camp registration must completed online via CampDocs at the time of registration.

What about the Bible?

We are a Bible camp. Every day the Bible is studied as part of our camp curriculum.

Are there any personal restrictions to riding your horses?

Our weight limit for horse riding is 200lbs.

Are Camp Jabez facilities available for rent?

Camp Jabez is not a place of public accommodation; we do not rent or loan facilities. Our usage is restricted for the ministry programs operated under our own governance.

Bathroom Breaks

All children must be potty trained. If your child needs to go more frewquesnt6ly we would just need to know in advance when completing their Health Profile.

Drop off/ Pick- up Policy

Please remain in your car when dropping off and picking up your child.  If you exit your car it creates a traffic jam for our circle

Camp Visits

We have an open house every year on the third Saturday in September.  This is the time to come if you would like to visit our facilities.  We do not allow shadowing of the youth while camp is in session.  We have found this to be very detrimental for many reasons.

Group Activities

We cannot guarantee that any youth will be on the same time or team that their friend/ family member may be.  We believe it is advantageous to mix them with new friends.

I have an additional question, who do I contact and how?
